The Dean Backpack is named After my Dad, Who inspired my love for hiking
I've been on both sides of a family hike. I remember times when I was young and would get tired, hot, or just need a snack. Now, I see my own kids hit that wall on a long hike, often sitting down in the middle of the trail as if they can't take another step. Sometimes all it takes is a sip of water and a handful of trail mix to get everyone back in the spirit of adventure. After trying (and getting frustrated with) loads of different packs, I decided to create my own, purpose-built backpack to keep the important stuff close at hand so the adventure can keep moving. It's named after my dad, Dean, who unfortunately passed away before we got to start this company together. He was my best friend. I would only put his name on a product I love as much as Dean himself loved the great outdoors.

Absolutely! 50L is the sweet spot for a 2–3 day trip when you're the one carrying the bulk of the gear. The beauty of The Dean TR 50 is that it's a smart 50L with a unique clamshell design and an organized interior. The layout organically fits more than a bigger pack simply by using the space wisely.
The harness slides along an adjustable torso track from about 15" to 21". Measure from the bony bump at the base of the neck to the top of the hip bones, set the slider, and tighten. It fits most adults and kids aged 12 to 18, adjusting with every growth spurt.
3 lb 8oz empty, including the aluminum frame. Light enough that a full load feels like less, sturdy enough to actually carry one.
The materials, workmanship, and parts are covered throughout the pack's usable life. We do not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect, environmental damage, unauthorized modifications, or secondhand purchases without proof of purchase. The namesake of this backpack means a lot to the Near Zero family. We wouldn't put Dean's name on a product we don't stand behind 100%.
