GEAR BUILT FOR THE TRAIL. INSPIRED BY FATHER'S LEGACY.
WHERE IT STARTED
Built for the Trail. Named for the Man Who Loved It.
Near Zero was born from a simple dream — and a father's obsession with getting outside. Scott Jensen grew up watching his dad Dean weigh every piece of gear before a trip, hike a mile from home just to test new equipment, and find something like peace out there on the trail.
When Dean passed away in June 2018, Scott turned that dream into a mission. Near Zero exists because of him — and for everyone who's ever felt the pull of open space.
THE STANDARD
Lightweight Gear That Passes the Dean Test.
Every piece of Near Zero gear is built to a standard Dean would have approved. Tents with unobstructed views of the night sky. Sleeping bags designed for real conditions. Packs light enough that the trail doesn't feel like work before it begins.
We don't cut corners to hit a price. We design lightweight gear that removes barriers — so the only thing standing between you and the wilderness is the drive to go.
FOR EVERYONE
No Experience Required. Just the Desire to Go.
Near Zero gear isn't just for seasoned backpackers. It's for the parent wanting a weekend away from screens. The retiree ready for a first real trail. The beginner staring at a gear list and not knowing where to start.
We bundle everything you need into one ready-to-go system, so the learning curve doesn't keep you home. Less weight. Less complexity. More time out there where it matters.
