I love this tent. It isn't the lightest tent out there, but it is the best priced one for the weight. I have had this tent in up to 50mph winds with rain and had no issues at all! This tent has the perfect amount of space for me and my son. It has conveniently located pockets as well. I waited to put my review u til I've had it out quite a few times and I can honestly say I love this tent. I will continue to support this brand.
Nearzero near 1 pound heavier than Big Angnes Copper Spur 2.
But at less than half the price such the better value is only hauling it for the occasional weekend backpack.
After months and months of research I chose the near zero 2p tent and it out performed my expectations. I set it up 3 times in the backyard before taking it out into the woods. It compressed down nicely, more so than the website lists, and can fit anywhere in the pack. There are 5 well placed pockets that were bigger than I anticipated. A storm rolled through on the second night of the trip and I stayed dry. The wind gusts were clocked at 45mph where we set up and I didn’t have any issues at all.
The criticisms I have are pretty minor. The strap for the vestibule tie down is just a little long that it creates a slack when the vestibule it rolled up. The strings on the ground stakes are a little too short.
It’s a great tent and I’m looking forward to my next adventure to the woods! Cheers to NZ for such an awesome product!
I'm picky. I want tents that are light weight, easy to set up, simple design, and economically priced. I don't have to have the best, but I know what I have to have.
For example, I don't want to have to use a ground cloth or tent stakes. While these can help in certain conditions, they are not necessary. The base is taped and waterproof so a ground cloth isn't necessary. The rain fly clips into the tent base and has color coded clips. The stakes are light, strong and do not bend, but this stand will stand perfectly fine without them. The fly will protect from rain and give ventilation without or without staking.
I don't want extra poles that have to be threaded through the tent or lots of strings that have to be staked out. While this tent has a wishbone design, all the poles are connected and easy to fit together. The tent clips to the poles instead of being threaded through them.
I have used this tent twice now on backpacking trips, with my wife and my son. It is snug for two, but definitely enough room. It is nice and tall so we can sit up no problem. It is very easy to set up and lots of great storage pockets. The weight is very good. Quality is great. Overall, very pleased with this. Two thumbs up.
